Road Trip Snacks for Kids and Adults

Hello Parents!

Do you ever experience long drives with toddlers? Sure it's fun. But it can be very challenging when they feel tired, hungry and exhausted from the long hours of car travel. You wouldn't wish to be stuck with a hungry toddler with a long drive ahead, right?

As a mom, I plan ahead and prepare for the worse. It's okay to be over prepared. So, when you plan to travel with a toddler, make sure you have enough or more than enough stock of foods in your car. Kids love to eat snacks, but I would not recommend snacks that contains too much sugar (Moms, you know why)

So here are some of the snack ideas that I would recommend:

Fruits
Sliced fruits like apple, banana, pear or grapes. It's a healthy snack and aside from that, it is less messier to eat and easy to pack at the same time.

Tip: Use a ziplock pouch or a lock&lock container.

Sandwich
Make your kid's favorite sandwich spread. Like cheese, peanut butter and jam, egg mayo, tuna mayo spread.

Egg mayo
Eggs (Hard boiled)
Plain Mayo
Salt & Pepper
Spring onion (Optional)

Tuna Mayo
Onion
Canned Tuna
Plain Mayo
Salt & Pepper

Mix all the ingredients together and put in the fridge for about 30 to 45 mins.

Potato chips
Now this doesn't sound healthy, right? But there are some chips that are way healthier than the regular ones. Lays for example. And, aside from potato chips, there can be an alternative like kale chips that are also available in some grocery and convenience stores.

Oatmeal PB bar
This one is my personal favorite. I call this PB energy ball. You can also try this, it is very easy to make

4 spoonful of peanut butter
2 cups of oatmeal
1 teaspoon of Vanilla extract

Mix them altogether and make it in a shape of a circle.

Crackers
One of the easy and convenient snack for your toddler is crackers. These are widely available in most stores.

Cookies
There are also healthy cookies available in groceries like banana oatmeal cookies, oatmeal cookies, and many more. Quaker cookies for example. If you have the time to prepare, you can bake cookies of your preference.

Popcorn
I would recommend Kettle Korn. It contains whole grains and fiber so it's a win. It is somehow healthy and it's okay if your child eat a little different than his usual snacks. Popcorn can be enjoyed by adults too.

Extra Snacks like:
- Cereal bites (Koko krunch/Cornflakes)
- Jelly Ace
- Mallows

Drinks
Do not forget to bring drinks ofcourse. You may bring juice, yogurt drinks, milk and more importantly water.

Note: Adjust how you serve some of these snacks for your kids depends on how much they eat.

Packing your own food and planning ahead will save you some time and energy for a long drive.

Do you plan to travel with your kid? Or did you already experience it? How was it? I'd love to hear your ideas and thoughts on the comment section down below.
